This European Standard is applicable to double acting slack adjusters designed to control the block (shoe) to tread (wheel) clearance of tread braked vehicles with conventional brake cylinders and rigging, without taking the track-gauge into consideration. This document supports the Essential Requirements of Directive 2008/57/EC on the interoperability of the rail system within the Community and specifies requirements for the design, the dimensions, the testing and the quality assessment of slack adjusters.
