Overview

This European Standard specifies requirements and test methods for baths for domestic purposes made from impact modified coextruded ABS/acrylic sheets conforming to EN 13559 with the aim of ensuring that the product, when installed in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions, will provide satisfactory performance in use. This European Standard is applicable to all sizes and shapes of baths. Fitness-for-purpose is determined by stringent requirements for surface finish (including mechanical resistance and resistance to chemicals and staining agents), connection conditions for bath fittings, drainage fittings and handles, deviations from the dimensions of the baths as well as their geometry, resistance to temperature changes and impact stress, and the formation and permissible deflection of bath edges and base. In relation to the previous version of 2009, the test method for determining the scratch resistance of the surface layer has been modified. The committee responsible for this standard is NA 119-05-18-10 UA "Bade- und Duscheinrichtungen (CEN/TC 163/WG 2)" ("Bath and shower installations (CEN/TC 163/WG 2)") at DIN Standards Committee Water Practice (NAW).
