This document specifies six inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry methods (A to F) for the analysis of alloying elements and impurities in copper and copper alloys in the form of unwrought, wrought or cast products. A complementary method for the analysis of copper-tin-lead alloys is described in Annex B (informative). The precision criteria for this method have not been sufficient for all elements (zinc and phosphorus). These methods are applicable to the elements copper, copper-zinc alloys, copper-tin alloys, copper-aluminium alloys, copper-beryllium alloys and copper-nickel alloys - within the given composition ranges. Amongst other things, the standard contains the principle of the method: - dissolution of the test portion in a mixture with hydrochloric and nitric acids - after appropriate dilution nebulization of the solution into an inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometer and measurement of the intensity of the emitted light, including that of the internal reference element. The European Standard (EN 15605:2010) has been prepared by CEN/TC 133 "Copper and copper alloys", the secretariat of which is held by DIN. Regarding the German collaboration the responsible Working Committee is NA 066-02-06 AA "Analysenverfahren für NE-Metalle" ("Methods of analysis for non-ferrous metals") of FNNE.
This document replaces DIN CEN/TS 15605:2008-02 .
