Overview

This Type C standard contains safety regulations. It contains the German version of Amendment A1:2010 to EN 12629-6:2004, which has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 151 "Construction equipment and building material machines - Safety", the secretariat of which is held by DIN (Germany), at the European Committee of Standardization (CEN). The national interests during the preparation of the standard were represented by Working Committee NA 060-13-10 "Betonsteinmaschinen" ("Concrete block making machines") of Technical Section Construction equipment and building material machines of the Mechanical Engineering Standards Committee (NAM) at DIN. Representatives of manufacturers and users of concrete block making machines, as well as representatives of professional and trade associations were involved in the preparation of the standard. This European Standard defines, in connection with the previously valid standard EN 12629-6:2004, relevant requirements set out in Annex I of the new EC Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC, relating to machines which were placed on the market within the EEA for the first time, with the intent of simplifying the means of proving conformity with such requirements. Once it is cited in the Official Journal of the European Communities, it is deemed a harmonized standard, and thus a manufacturer applying this standard may assume compliance with the requirements of the Machinery Directive covered by this standard (the so-called presumption of conformity). This part of EN 12629, taken together with EN 12629-1:2000+A1:2010, applies to stationary and mobile equipment for the manufacture of precast reinforced products as defined in clause 3 and applies to these machines also when used for the manufacture of non-reinforced moulded products. This document describes the additional requirements to and/or the deviations from EN 12629-1:2000+A1:2010 specific to the machines it covers. This European Standard deals with all significant hazards pertinent to these machines when they are used as intended and under conditions of misuse which are reasonably foreseeable by the manufacturer (see clause 4). This European Standard specifies the appropriate technical measures to eliminate or reduce risks arising from the significant hazards. This document applies to the modules comprising machines (with or without turnover demoulding) for the manufacturing of reinforced moulded products as shown below and illustrated in informative Annexes A and B. This machinery can consist of three modules and they are generally designed to obtain a large moulding capacity (middle length of the products from 3 to 4 meters), with a limit height of demoulding of 1 m and a maximum width of 1,50 m. Module A: Manufacturing by vibration or even compression and floating, with or without turnover. Module B: Storage/hardening. Module C: Palletising/packaging of the concrete products. This module also permits the inspection of the products. These machines are designed to perform the following cyclic operations: - manufacturing by vibration an even compression (oiling, mould feeding - concrete and reinforcement, vibration, floating, interlocking, turnover, removing from mould); - storage of moulds and pallet boards for concrete hardening; - destacking and conditioning products; - moulds and pallet boards return to the manufacturing module. The operations may be manual, semi-automatic or automatic. This document deals with automatic and semi-automatic operations of modules A and C and with automatic operations of module B. There are two main types of stationary and mobile equipment for manufacture of precast reinforced products: - equipment with instant removing from mould on pallet boards or on the floor; - equipment with delayed removing from mould (collection of moulds: the concrete products are hardened in the mould). This document does not deal with the machines for: - mixing of concrete; - manufacturing of reinforcing steel; - evacuation of products to the stockyard; - manufacturing of products (for example, slabs or blocks) covered by other parts of EN 12629. Annex A shows the most common types of production units as well as their variations: immediate demoulding unit and delayed demoulding unit. This standard deals with safety requirements and/or safety measures which apply for these machines. The following modifications have been made with respect to EN 12629-6:2004-08: - modification of the foreword; - modification of the introduction; - modification and update of the scope (clause 1); - update of the normative references (clause 2); - modification and update of clause 3 (Definitions); - modification and update of the significant hazards in clause 4; - modification and update of the safety requirements and/or protective measures in clause 5; - modification and update of the verification of safety requirements and/or protective measures including Table 9 in clause 6; - update of the information for use in clause 7; - update of the informative Annex ZA about the relationship between this European Standard and the essential requirements of EU Directive 2006/42/EC; - modification and update of the Bibliography.
