This type C standard contains safety requirements. It contains the German version of prEN 12001:2012, which has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 151 "Construction equipment and building material machines - Safety" (secretariat: DIN, Germany) at the European Committee of Standardization (CEN). During the preparation of the standard, the national interests were represented by Working Committee NA 060-13-08 "Betonpumpen" ("Concrete pumps") at Technical Section Bau- und Baustoffmaschinen (Construction equipment and building material machines) of the Mechanical Engineering Standards Committee (NAM) at DIN. Representatives of manufacturers and users of conveying, spraying and placing machines for concrete and mortar, and of the employers' liability insurance associations contributed to this standard. This standard defines relevant requirements of Annex I of the new EC Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC for machines which were placed on the market in the EEA for the first time, in order to facilitate the verification of the conformity with these requirements. Once this standard is cited in the Official Journal of the European Union, it is deemed a "harmonized"standard and thus, a manufacturer applying this standard may assume compliance with the requirements of the Machinery Directive ("presumption of conformity"). This standard specifies the safety requirements for conveying, spraying and placing machines for concrete and mortar and their components. The machinery can be stationary or mobile. This European Standard does not cover machines that are mobile during conveying, spraying and placing, cabins for any machines covered by this standard, additional functions beyond conveying, spraying and placing concrete and mortar, for example, separate mixing function or crane function, requirements for operation in tunnels and support structures (that is, tower systems) not exclusively designed for use with concrete distribution booms. This European Standard does not establish the additional requirements for operations subject to special rules (for example, potentially explosive atmospheres, supply by electrical networks where voltage, frequency and tolerance differ from those of the public supply, earthquake, lightning, using on public roads). This European Standard deals with all significant hazards, hazardous situations and events relevant to conveying, spraying and placing machines when they are used as intended and under the conditions foreseen by the manufacturer. This European Standard specifies the appropriate technical measures to eliminate or reduce risks arising from the significant hazards during transportation, assembly, dismantling, disabling, scrapping, operation and maintenance.
