The method outlined in this document serves for determination of coking value of binding and impregnating materials and similar materials. The sample is coked in a porcelain crucible at a temperature of 550 °C in an electrically operated muffle furnace. The residue remaining in the crucible is determined and the coke residue calculated as the ratio between residue and weight of the sample taken and indicated as percentage by mass. The committee responsible for this standard is Working Committee NA 062-02-81 AA "Prüfverfahren für Kohlenstoff und Graphit" ("Testing of carbonaceous materials") at DIN.
