Conveyor belts are used in mining for the continuous transport of large quantities of bulk material over sometimes long distances. The largely automatic and unmanned operation, the critical operating conditions and the often inhomogeneous material conveyed place great demands on the conveyor belt. Failure events are associated with high costs and are also relevant in terms of safety due to the often confined space conditions. The standard specifies or describes the test methods to be used to check the requirements for steel cord conveyor belts in accordance with DIN EN ISO 15236-1. The standard has been prepared by Working Committee NA 008-05-03 AA "Fördergurte" ("Conveyor belts") at DIN Standards Committee Mining (FABERG).
This document replaces DIN 22131-3:1988-11 .
