Short description

1.1 This standard provides a classification system for chemical compounds whereby chemicals are assigned a three-digit code based primarily on chemical class. 2 Poly-functional compounds should be classified by all applicable code numbers associated with their component functional groups. 1.2 This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.
