Short description
The standard deals with the use of simulation as an aid to the planning of automated guided vehicle systems (AGVS). It gives an overview of the relevant types of simulation, the respectively necessary input data and the results to be achieved. The standard does not provide detailed descriptions of various simulation tools, or the various possible simulation models. Aspects and procedures that go beyond the AGVS, as they are necessary for the optimisation of the whole logistic process, are excluded. The standard provides a clear and detailed definition of the input data, which represent the interface between users, planners and manufacturers. By this, the standard harmonises the simulation of AGVS with respect to the input data and increases the comparability of the results achieved by means of different simulations.
