Short description
This standard covers all congeners of polychlorinated dibenzodioxins and dibenzofurans (PCDD/Fs) for which toxic equivalency factors (WHO-TEF2005) have been determined according to WHO. Maximum immission values (MI values) for farm animals serve to protect animals so that safe food products can be obtained from them. Health, wellness and performance of these animals are not of primary concern in this standard. Instead, the focus is placed on the deposition of PCDD/F in edible tissue, primarily in fatty tissue and the elimination with the milk and eggs. Maximum immission values are derived from feeding experiments with farm animals whose results provide information on the relationship between concentrations in fodder and the resulting concentrations in fatty products. Maximum immission values for diary cow, laying hen and fattening pig have been derived.
