Because of recent developments in metrology concerning measurement uncertainty, for instance, the ISO/IEC Guide to the Expression of Uncertainty in Measurement (GUM), the former standards based on classical statistics had to be revised. This standard is based on Bayesia statistics, as is DIN 25482-10:2000-05. This means that standard measurement uncertainties as well as quantities and influences which do not behave randomly in measurements repeated several times or in counting measurements can be taken into account. The former DIN 25482 standard series was combined in one standard since all measurements of ionizing radiation are based on the same procedure for the calculation of the characteristic limits. Application examples are now dealt with in the annexes. The responsible Committee is Joint Subcommittee GUK 967.2 "Aktivitätsmessgeräte für den Strahlenschutz" ("Activity meters for radiation protection") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE, Joint Committee with the Radiology Standards Committee (NAR) at DIN.
