This document has been compiled by the adoption of a still internal secretarial document of International Committee ISO/TC 6/SC 2 "Test methods and quality specifications for paper and board". It represents the intended subsequent edition of ISO 2758:2003 and will soon be published as a Final Draft (ISO/FDIS) in the form of a so-called "Minor Revision". Working Committee NA 074-02-03 AA "Physikalisch-technische Prüfverfahren für Papier und Pappe" ("Physical-technological test methods for paper and board") has decisively collaborated during the preparation of this document. In parallel to this, a publication as FprEN ISO at CEN takes place. Users of this standard should take note of the following: During a routine review of the standard, ISO/TC 6 "Paper, board and pulps" determined that some minor editorial changes were necessary. A validation of the method and its results by means of precision data was also deemed desirable. For the sake of simplicity, the results of interlaboratory tests carried out and evaluated in 2012 by CEPI (Confederation of European Paper Industries) have been used as precision data (see Annex E). This International Standard is applicable to papers with bursting strengths in the range 70 kPa to 1 400 kPa. For materials with bursting strengths equal to or greater than 350 kPa (or 250 kPa for the components of combined materials), an alternative method, based on similar principles, is specified in ISO 2759. All components of solid and corrugated fibreboard, irrespective of bursting strength, should be tested according to ISO 2759.
