Overview

This part of ISO 17296 covers the principal considerations which apply to data exchange for additive manufacturing. It specifies terms and definitions which enable information to be exchanged describing geometries or parts such that they can be additively manufactured. This International Standard provides the user (customer) and the manufacturer (external as well as internal service provider) with proven advice and recommendations to improve communication between customer and supplier and to contribute to a binding structuring of services and smooth processing. It assumes that the reader has a basic understanding regarding the process flow of the various additive manufacturing methods. It explains the processes used in practice only to the extent necessary to understand the statements.s
