This European Standard defines relevant requirements set out in Annex I of EU Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC, relating to machines which were placed on the European Economic Area (EEA) for the first time, with the intent of simplifying the means of proving conformity with these requirements. Once this standard is designated a harmonized standard in the Official Journal of the European Union, a manufacturer applying this standard may assume compliance with the requirements of the Machinery Directive (the so-called "presumption of conformity"). This European Standard applies to tyre curing machines having the following configuration: - crossing flow tyre curing machines, with two cavities and with: - common curing cycle and common safeguarding; or - independent curing cycles and common safeguarding; or - independent curing cycles and independent safeguarding; - tyre curing machines with one cavity; - tyre curing machines with automatic rear feeding and discharge. The safety requirements and/or protective measures specified in this European Standard apply to tyre curing machines for passenger vehicle tyres and truck tyres. This European Standard does not cover: - feeding systems and discharge systems; - tyre curing machines, where feeding into the mould and discharge of tyres from the mould are done manually; - ancillary equipment which is not an integral part of the tyre curing machine, such as conveying equipment; - extraction systems. This European Standard deals with all significant hazards, hazardous situations and events relevant to tyre curing machines when they are used as intended and under conditions of misuse which are reasonably foreseeable by the manufacturer. It does not deal with hazards due to parts falling down from the container or mould. Some tyre curing machines comprise pressure vessels regulated by the Directive 97/23/EC; this European Standard is not intended to promote the Directive 97/23/EC. This European Standard does not apply to tyre curing machines which have been manufactured before the date of this standard's publication as an EN. This standard contains the German version of EN 16474:2015 which has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 145 "Plastics and rubber machines" at the European Committee for Standardization (CEN). During the preparation of the standard, the national interests were represented by Committee NA 060-14-17 AA "Reifenheizpressen" ("Thermoforming machines") of Technical Section "Kunststoff- und Gummimaschinen" ("Plastics and rubber machines") of the Standards Committee Mechanical Engineering (NAM) at DIN. Representatives of manufacturers and users of thermoforming machines, as well as representatives of professional and trade associations were involved in the preparation.
