Secure cabinets are tested and classified on the basis of this document. Secure cabinets are designed to protect against burglars who usually do not have specific information about the burglary resistance of the structures and who are not prepared to take unnecessary risks. The burglars attempt to gain access to the contents of the cabinet by using simple tools that they normally carry with them to gain entry to the building. These boundary conditions are reflected in the type test by the use of mostly manual tools ("hand tools"). This standard does not include requirements for tests of resistance to fraudulent access. This standard contains the German version of prEN 14450:2016 prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 263 "Secure storage of cash, valuables and data media" of the European Committee for Standardization (CEN). The standard differs from DIN EN 14450:2005-06 as follows: a) update of the introduction; b) amendment of the test requirements for marking work (Subclause 7.1.3.2) and anchoring (Subclause 7.1.2.1); c) the dimensions of the "wedge" tool have been changed in Subclause 7.1.1; d) a note has been changed to a requirement and the tensile strength test equipment shall now be suitable for loads of 30 kN; e) clarifications regarding the positioning of the anchorage holes (Subclause 4.2.2); f) editorial changes in Subclauses 4.1, 7.1.2.4, 7.1.3, 7.1.4.6, 7.2, Table 1, Table 2 and Annex A, among others. The national interests during the preparation of the standard were represented by committee NA 060-20-01 AA "Geldschränke und Tresoranlagen" ("Safes and strongrooms") at DIN Standards Committee Mechanical Engineering (NAM). Representatives of the manufacturers and users of safes and safe systems were involved in the preparation.
