This European Standard will supersede EN 13749:2005. It specifies the method to be followed to achieve a satisfactory design of bogie frames and includes design procedures, assessment methods, verification and manufacturing quality requirements. It is limited to the structural requirements of bogie frames including bolsters and axlebox housings. The standard has been prepared under a mandate given to CEN by the European Commission and the European Free Trade Association to support Essential Requirements of EU Directive 2008/57/EC. The informative Annex ZA underlines the relationship with this EU Directive. Significant modifications with regard to the previous edition are as follows: - incorporation of an informative Annex ZA; - incorporation of additional terms and definitions; - consideration of the relation to EN 15827 and EN 15663; - restructuring of clauses and annexes; - editorial and content-related adjustments, especially in the informative annexes. This document is a generic standard on the stability of bogies. In particular, it covers aspects of quality and usability, also with the idea of rationalization and type limitation. There are normative references to EN 15827 and EN 15663 and standard series EN 15085.
This document replaces DIN EN 13749:2005-07 .
