The tests according to this standard are used to determine the changes in, and the behaviour of, cellular plastics when exposed to liquids, vapours and gases, as well as solids under specified conditions, such as temperature, time and pressure. The test methods refer in particular to the determination of changes in the mass and the dimensions of test specimens, on changes in their appearance and, where applicable, on changes in other physical properties (for example, compressive stress). Comparison between values of change in mass, dimensions, and other changes can only be made if test specimens of the same dimensions, taken under the same conditions (for example, test specimens with moulding skin) are used. Except where agreed, no external forces shall act on the test specimens. This standard has been prepared by NA 062-04-37 AA "Prüfung von Weich- und Hartschäumen" ("Testing of flexible and rigid cellular materials") at DIN Standards Committee Materials Testing (NMP).
