Pressure valves type B in accordance with this standard are used as shut-off devices for the pressure outlets of fire pumps. This standard only lists the pressure valves type B currently used for firefighting. Only the shapes G 80 K and F 90 should be used for new designs because the other shapes can be produced from these basic shapes with the aid of sockets, bends, flanges and so on. The standard has been revised in order to bring the technical content up to date, including - handwheel with ball handle (HB) included as an alternative to handwheel B 100 (with lobed wheel rim) in accordance with DIN 390; - conformity assessment requirement by an officially recognized testing body has been omitted during testing because its legal basis, the "Administrative agreement between the federal states of the Federal Republic of Germany on the testing and approval of fire extinguishing agents, firefighting appliances and equipment", no longer exists; - tightness requirements specified; - marking revised; - normative references and bibliography updated. In the interests of simpler storage and spare parts supply, it is intended to no longer include the G 45 K, G 45 L and F 80 shapes in a later edition of DIN 14381. The standard has been prepared by Working Committee NA 031-04-05 AA "Feuerlöschpumpen - SpA zu CEN/TC 192/WG 2" ("Firefighting pumps - mirror committee of CEN/TC 192/WG 2") at DIN Standards Committee Firefighting and Fire Protection (FNFW).
This document replaces DIN 14381:1999-05 .
