Short description
The standard contributes to making the bioeconomy in Germany economically, ecologically and socially sustainable in the long term. It defines central terms and presents the potential, context and activities of the bioeconomy in an exemplary manner. The standard focuses on applications and economic sectors that use or process biological resources and biological knowledge, use biogenic products and recycle residual and waste materials.This standard is aimed in particular at decision-makers and actors in the following institutions, including those that still have to make the transition from fossil to bioeconomic raw materials: companies that produce or provide biomass, that use or process biomass or biobased products and materials, that use biological resources to extract valuable materials and valorise waste materials, companies in mechanical and plant engineering, companies in the financial sector, quality assurance institutions as well as certification and monitoring institutions, research and teaching institutions, training and further education institutions, legislative and public administration institutions, communication institutions for the specialist community (associations, specialist bodies), communication institutions for the public (consumer centres, NGOs, journalism), political decision-makers and the interested public.
